about

I actually wrote this song about 6 years ago while traveling by train in DC to see a friend. I was going to hang out with a drummer/piano playing friend of mine by the name of Quincy Phillips.

When I got to his place, I showed him the song and he put chords to it and we made a track of it. Ironically, he and I both experienced break ins around the same time where thieves stole some of our music equipment, keyboard, saxophones, etc.

I later decided to name the song I came up with Heaven after reading Mat 6:19-21 which was an encouragement to store our treasures in Heaven instead of in this earth.

Mat 6:19
Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:

Mat 6:20
But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

Mat 6:21
For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
